Meet Kei
Hi, I'm Kei, a jewellery designer/maker inspired by dynamic cityscapes and women’s empowerment. I work between the vibrant orange‐scented city of Seville and diverse culture hub, London.
As a creative my list of loves is endless – art, architecture, design, music, laughing, a great cup of coffee... but always firmly at the top is my number one passion, designing and making jewellery. This is my form of self‐expression, my happy place.
Designing begins, for me, amongst the vivid shapes and movement of the city streets. I meander through them, headphones on, immersed in sound, noticing patterns, symbols and geometric forms. Or I sit, for hours, in a cafe, city park or art gallery watching life pass by; drinking in my surroundings and whatever caffeinated beverage I have to hand.
It’s here, attuned to the thrum of urban life and my own physical presence within it, that I become inspired to create.
My designs are largely autobiographical; they tell the stories that I see and live ‐ using symbols and shapes to embody and celebrate love, growth and life as a woman. Each piece represents my own conscious reflection and experience in tangible form.
Central to my design/make ethos, is the desire to create good. I am committed to becoming and being a responsible jeweller. My business decisions carefully consider and acknowledge social and environmental factors. This is an ongoing journey, and you can follow it with me at StudioKei,
